Dewsbury & Proud work to the terms and conditions of the CPA (Construction Plant Hire Association) and in accordance with BS7121, The Safe Use of Cranes and LOLER.
Under the terms of a CPA Crane Hire Agreement, the crane and operator are the responsibility of the customer when the crane leaves the public highway to gain access to the site.
The customer is accountable and responsible for the planning of the lift, the personnel involved, associated equipment and the supervision of the crane operation. This is undertaken by an Appointed Person who should have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the lift.
The customer is required under the CPA Model Conditions to have the following insurance cover:
- Loss of, or damage to our plant or equipment whilst on site.
- Loss of, or damage to the goods being lifted.
- Continuing hire charges whilst the plant is ‘off road’ for repair damages.
- Public liability – injury to operator, injury to other parties, including damage to their property, arising from crane operations
The Crane Owner must supply a competent operator and a crane fit for the intended purpose. The ‘Safe Use of Cranes’ (BS 7121) gives full description of his/her duties
